Fifteen teams from nine small BC schools will be in Osoyoos this weekend for an expanded Osoyoos Secondary Desert Classic basketball tournament.

Breaking from previous iterations, the tournament will include both Mens and Ladies teams this year.

The three-day tournament —which begins this morning at 11 a.m. — will see play at both Osoyoos Secondary School (men’s games) and the Sonora Centre (ladies’ games).

The host Mens Osoyoos Rattlers open play at 11 a.m. against Princeton. The Ladies will play at 2 p.m. against Ashcroft.

Schools participating include South Slocan – Mt. Sentinel, Ashcroft, Barriere, Grand Forks, Princeton, Fernie, Prince George – Cedars Christian, Surrey – Regent Christian and the host Rattlers on the men’s side and Ashcroft, Princeton, Grand Forks, Fernie, Barriere and the host Rattlers on the Ladies’ side.

The tournament will also feature a three-point shooting contest, a team-shooting contest and a mini all star tournament.
