The Osoyoos Desert Centre is opening for another season — and it wants you to come along and enjoy the fun for free.
This weekend, the Desert Centre will be offering guided tours, presentations and photo walks to welcome the new season — and all activities are free Saturday.
The fun begins Saturday morning at 10 with the Burrowing Owl presentation. Visitors can meet Pluto from the Burrowing Owl Society.
At 11 a.m., a guided tour will introduce visitors to desert predators; at 1 p.m., a guided tour will focus on birds and blooms.
A Photo Walk follows at 2 p.m., offering photographers of all skill levels the opportunity to embark on a photo safari through Canada’s only desert.
The fun continues with guided tours Sunday at 10 and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
At 2 p.m. the centre will host an open house for current volunteers — and anyone else who would like to learn more about opportunities at the centre. The event includes refreshments and a special guided tour along the boardwalk.
The Osoyoos Desert Centre is located 3 km north of Osoyoos just off Hwy. 97. Watch for signs.
