Fireworks Committee asks for help
as flooding drowns donations

Canada’s warmest evening of fireworks is looking for a little help as preparations enter the stretch run.

The Osoyoos Fireworks Committee is making a plea for donations to ensure what has become a nationally-renowned night sky of fireworks continues to wow.

“Due to the flooding this year our donations are down,” the committee writes in a post. “Help us bring back the tourists to Osoyoos. Remember the Fireworks brings in a big crowd every year — approximately 30,000 people watch the Fireworks here every year.”

The Fireworks Committee — after putting together a humdinger of a show for Canada’s 150 birthday celebration last July — wants to put a fitting conclusion to the 70th annual Cherry Fiesta this year.

It asks those who would like to donate to the fireworks effort to drop off an envelope to the Osoyoos Town Hall or to mail it to 17417 87th Street, Osoyoos, BC, V0H 1V2.
