The Osoyoos Lake Water Quality Society has scheduled its annual gathering.
The Society, which monitors the health of Osoyoos Lake and provides public education, will hold its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, May 10.
The meeting is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start in Room 1 at the Sonora Community Centre.
The Society is looking for new members and volunteers to “join our board and to board our boat to participate in regular lake testing.”
The QLWQS boat goes out regularly to test the lake at four locations with the collected data forwarded to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
The Society also provides public education to protect the lake from pollution and invasive species such as zebra and quagga mussels.
The society was founded in 1991 to promote public awareness of the lake, covering issues such as invasive species, conservation, pollution and lake management.
It is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers.
