A couple of dates to pencil in for the kids.

The first is June 21-22. That’s when pre-registration will be held for the popular Cactus Kids Day Camps — scheduled to open July 3 and run weekly through August 25.

The camps are open to youth aged five to 12, with half-day and full-day programs offered through the Cactus Centre — just off Kingfisher Drive — and the Sonora Centre.

Each week is punctuated by a unique theme, with activities to include crafts, games, swimming and special events.

A full camp day costs $21; half days are $11. Rates are reduced for longer stays and there are special rates for two or more siblings.

Pre-registration will be held June 21 and June 22 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Sonora Community Centre. Please bring child’s birth certificate to register.

Registrations will be accepted after June 22 at the Cactus Centre.

Registrations are also being accepted by the Lake Osoyoos Sailing Club for a summer Learn to Sail day camp for youth aged six to 13.

The camp, conducted in cooperation with BC Sailing, is a five-day Optimist dinghy sailing program that provides basic sailing instruction and teaches sail boat, safety and other skills.

No sailing experience is necessary but students should be comfortable in and on the water while wearing a life jacket.

The camp is scheduled for Aug. 28 – Sept. 1. The club has space for up to 22 students but requires at least 16 for the camp to move forward.

The cost is $250 plus tax, although $200 in Kidsport funding is available for qualified families.
