Tracy Geisler moved from Winnipeg to Osoyoos in October 2017.
Not just for the natural beauty and warmer weather though — she had been dreaming about opening her own business for years and was looking for the right spot. She had spent time in Osoyoos previously and loved it.
“I have always wanted to open a dog daycare business,” shared Tracy. “I did lots of on-the-ground market research when I visited Osoyoos. I talked to people around town and at the dog parks to see if there was interest in my business idea.”
The feedback she received was positive and as she explored the area she found the perfect spot on Main Street to get her Fox & Hound Urban Pet Lounge started.
The dog daycare part of her business is open and the dog wash stations are almost ready. Soon pet owners will be able to come in and use the raised spa stations to wash their pet or they will be able to have a staff member do it for them.
Her ultimate goal is to be a one-stop shop for pet owners with natural pet treats, toys, blankets and other unique items. There are training classes available now and a groomer will eventually join the team.
The space is open, bright and ready with air conditioning for hot summer months. The larger dogs have their own spacious section towards the back and there is a large area for smaller dogs to be together up at the front facing the windows. There are also two other separate quarters for dogs that might prefer or need their own space.
Dogs must be up to date with their vaccinations and they will need to show their documentation. If vacationers don’t have their paperwork, then the staff can call their vet back home for them.
Fox & Hound Urban Pet Lounge is located at 8131 Main Street and can be reached by phone at 250-495-5921.
