Baldy Mountain is hoping for a slippery slope this weekend — one that has you sliding into a full season of ski, snowshoe and toboggan fun.
The mountain opens its season this weekend with its First Chair Festival: three days of everything imaginable in a white, winter environment.
The festival, which gets started Friday with a kids slalom course on the Magic Carpet Hill and a disk golf competition, includes fun activities for the whole family.
Insider Baldy experience tours are scheduled each day, allowing skiers and boarders a guided tour of the ski hill. There’s also a free snowshoe guided tour each day.
Other events include warm-up yoga Saturday and Sunday, free tobogganing, a fire pit and plenty of music, culinary and drink events in the newly renovated Baldy Bar.
The fun gets started at 8:45 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Fireworks will close Saturday at 6 p.m.
Mt. Baldy is accessible from Hwy 3 east of Osoyoos or via McKinney Road out of Oliver.
