Niedermayer a late addition
to Pics and Sticks event

The Cup count just went up by four.

Scott Niedermayer was announced this afternoon as a last-minute addition to the NHL Alumni team that will take the ice tomorrow evening against the alumni squad of Oiler greats in the inaugural Kubota Canada/Gerard’s Equipment Pics & Sticks Charity Hockey Game.

Nidermayer won four Stanley Cups with the New Jersey Devils and Anaheim Ducks — adding to the 16 NHL Championships already expected for the fun matchup at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton.

Other former NHL stars participating are Glenn Anderson, Marty McSorley, Geoff Courtnall, Kirk Maclean, Cliff Ronning, Chris Joseph and Dean McAmmond.

Osoyoos native Chuck Kobasew will also be playing for the NHL Alumni.

The fundraiser will benefit Spirit of the Game, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, Make A Wish BC & Yukon, and Basics for Babies, also includes a golf tournament, banquet and country music concert at Spirit Ridge at Nk’Mip outside of Osoyoos May 16.

The two-day event is being hosted by Canadian country music star Gord Bamford and Edmonton Oilers Alumnus Kevin Primeau, now an Osoyoos realtor.
