The Watermark Beach Resort is again this weekend opening its doors to a delicious array of smells, tastes, sights and sounds with Devour! The Film Food Fest.
The Osoyoos-based event is tailored to the South Okanagan and Similikameen Valley’s astonishing food and wine scene. It promises to be a jam-packed event with educational sessions, gala dinners and much more.
An event for foodies and wine connoisseurs alike, Devour! was created by Chef Michael Howell as a celebration of food, wine and film.
Originating in Wolfville, NS, in 2009, it has since grown in popularity to win multiple awards and tour in locations all over Canada.
Kicking the weekend off Friday evening is a welcome BBQ and reception on the beach complete with an after-party at Jojo’s Café.
The reception and BBQ will feature Similkameen independent wines accompanying barbecue selections courtesy of Chef Adair Scott.
The after-party runs from 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Saturday starts with the lunch-time Chowder smackdown — a cross-Canada competition of Canadian Chowder-making that features six guest chefs hailing from Nova Scotia, BC and Alberta.
Find out who will reign supreme in this intense battle of culinary excellence and sample offerings from local cideries, breweries and distillers.
Saturday afternoon is focused entirely on the wines, ciders, fruits and varietals of the Similkameen.
Local wineries will join together to discuss the complexities and diversity of soil, grape and glass the valley has to offer.
The magic boils over Saturday evening with the ultimate sensory sensation that is the food film gala.
Larger-than-life food films whisk you away with the accompaniment of chef-prepared courses inspired by each film and paired perfectly with Similkameen wine.
This delivers a truly unique dining experience where you can explore every aspect of food in a new light.
Sunday morning, the event wraps up with a Long Table Breakfast in the Courtyard.
Weekend passes for Devour! start at $369 per person (accommodations included), but the option to pay for events separately is available as well.
