The Town of Osoyoos is hoping to learn a few new tricks from its resident dog owners.
The Town is looking for three volunteers to be part of a committee whose purpose is to provide input on the development of a dog park at the West Bench (former BMX track) area.
“We’d just like to have some direct input from people that will use the park, or are using the park now,” said Gerald Davis, the Town’s Director of Community Service.
His department, he added, has some ideas on what the dog park will look like, but stressed the community’s involvement is encouraged to improve that vision.
“There’s absolutely nothing that can’t be discussed or included at this point of time,” he said.
The three members would sit with Mr. Davis and Coun. CJ Rhodes. The Town is hoping those members will represent “broad public interests and be positive community ambassadors.”
“I’m hoping to have a meeting prior to Christmas, just to get together,” said Mr. Davis. “Depending on people’s schedules, we’ll probably kick it off hardcore come January. If we need to meet every couple of weeks, that’s what we’ll do.”
Interested candidates are required to forward a letter outlining their interests and qualifications. Letters can be delivered by mail (Box 3010, Osoyoos, BC V0H 1V0) by hand to the Sonora Centre or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
They will be received until December 6.
The West Bench dog park is moving to an adjacent area after Council determined to return the existing park space to its original intention as a minor league ball diamond.
