Young filmmaker planning shoot at Osoyoos airport

A blockbuster it likely won’t be, but Osoyoos will soon be the backdrop for yet another film production.

A young filmmaker is bringing his craft to the community later this month, taking over the Osoyoos airport to shoot what appears to be a short film.

Haiderali Ajmeri will have a “team of about 12” with him when he comes to town August 24 to 28.

“It’s a short independent comedy titled Two Thumbs Up” he said by email. “This is a project I’ve wanted to make for some time.

The production received an expression of support this afternoon when Osoyoos Council approved an agreement allowing use of the airport at a rate of $100 a day.

As Counc. CJ Rhodes explained, the nominal fee is worth it when a four-day stay in Osoyoos by the film crew is factored into the equation.

Mr. Ajmeri graduated from UBC this spring with a degree in Film Production.

Several of his previous film efforts are available for viewing online.
