More than 300 volunteer firefighters from across the province are expected to gather in Oliver this weekend for a spring utilities seminar of practical skills training and live demonstrations.
The event — held every two years and sponsored by FortisBC — was established to provide first responders with the most up-to-date training for emergency situations involving natural gas and electricity.
The event will take place at the Oliver Community Park, with various stations set up throughout the area.
Demonstrations will include a mock motor vehicle accident and downed power pole at location 20, a natural gas emergency at location 11 and a FortisBC liquefied natural gas (LNG) live fire demonstration at location 26.
Members of the public are invited to attend and watch the demonstrations.
