First Nations gather for powwow
with event at Osoyoos Secondary

The South Okanagan – Similkamen’s First Nations celebrated SD53’s district powwow this weekend, First Nations peoples travelling from across BC to join in traditional dance, song, food and craft.

The event, held at Osoyoos Secondary, was open to the public and featured dancers from many of the province’s First Nations in full regalia.

The PowWow is organized by the district’s Aboriginal Education Advisory Council. It is held annually in April and rotates between the communities of Oliver, Osoyoos and Keremeos.
