Graduating Rattler off to all-star game this weekend in Richmond

Kavneer Dhaliwal will play in a high school all-star basketball game this weekend in Richmond.

An Osoyoos Secondary Rattler star will get the chance to put a little icing on his basketball career cake Saturday as he participates in a provincial all-star game.

Kavneer Dhaliwal, who played center and small forward with the Rattlers this season, is the lone Okanagan player to be participating in the 1A-2A All-Star game Saturday evening in Richmond.

“I’m just excited to be playing,” said Kavneer, one of 10 1A players from throughout the province invited to participate.

The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at RC Palmer Secondary School in Richmond. A similar contest between 3A and 4A players follows at 7:30.

The day’s festivities include three-point shooting and dunk contests.

The game will likely be a swan-song of sorts for Kavneer, who started playing the game in Grade 6. He has no plans to play competitive ball next year when he attends UBC-Okanagan in Kelowna.

Rather, he’ll be focused on pursuing a degree in mechanical or civil engineering.
