It’s Half-Corked Marathon weekend and even if you’re not participating in this fun half-marathon, you can still Party! At the Finish Line.

The relaxing afternoon of entertainment, food, wine, friends and family gets started at 11 a.m. and runs through 3 p.m.

“We are so excited for the 11th annual Half-Corked marathon,” said Oliver Osoyoos Wine Association Executive Director Jennifer Busmann. “It’s going to be a great weekend of fun.”

Engaged this year are 43 member wineries and 1,500 participants — the biggest Half-Corked to date.

“They’re coming from across the country,” said Ms. Busmann.

It’s the race itself — and we use the term loosely here — that is the main attraction.

The 18-km route weaves through the green countryside of the South Okanagan, the trek through vineyard punctuated by stops at the some of the region’s very best wineries.

Participants sample wines along the way, the offering usually paired with cuisine from local chefs.

As you can imagine, the run often becomes a jog and then a walk. Prizes are for creative costumes, not for the fastest race times.

General admission to Party! At the Finish Line is free, with food trucks offering eats and wine tastings from local wineries available for $25.

Here’s what else is going on this weekend.

‘The Boss’ will perform at the Frank Venables Theatre in Oliver Friday evening. Tom O’Leary is Bruce Springsteen and provides “a testament to the relentless experience of living a genuine life.” The show goes at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available at the door.

The Matinee rocks the Tinhorn Creek Amphitheatre with a 7:30 show. The band offers a heart-swelling collision of hook-infused rock and earthy roots influences. The Tinhorn Creek Concert Series often sells out early. Call ahead for ticket information if you’re looking to attend.

The Osoyoos Golf Course will host its 28th annual Senior Men’s Open Golf Tournament this weekend. It tees off Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and wraps up with another 18 holes of play on Sunday.

Oliver Twist Estate Winery is holding a Charitable Pancake Breakfast, with all donations supporting JoeAnna’s House, a home-away-from-home to keep families together when they need it most. The breakfast runs from 7:30 to 11 a.m.

The Osoyoos Lake Paddle Club is hosting a Paddle Palooza, inviting spectators to come see what dragonboat racing is all about. The fun starts at 10:30 a.m. at Safari Beach.
