Let’s flip that switch and lite-up!

It’s time to welcome the holiday season

A big treat Friday afternoon is caroling as spectators await the Santa Claus parade.

Pull on your mitts and toque, zip up that coat and join the Osoyoos community this Friday as it lights up for the holiday season.

The magic moment comes around dusk this Friday evening when the Christmas lights go on downtown.

The Osoyoos Festival Society’s Christmas Lite-Up has put oohs and ahs on local faces for 28 years now.

And there’s plenty more to see and do both Friday and Saturday.

The fun starts from 7 to 10 a.m. December 2 with the Kiwanis-Smitty’s Toys for Tots to Teens, a free breakfast in exchange for a new unwrapped children’s toy or cash donation. (Read more here).

Later on that day, take in the Downtown Merchant Open House from 5 to 8 p.m. and stop to enjoy Christmas Carols and the Santa parade on Main Street.

Finally, shut down your Friday with Santa’s Night Out, a dry-grad fundraiser for Osoyoos Secondary School to be held at the Sonora Centre.

Admission is $10 at the door.

The fun continues Saturday morning with Breakfast with Santa at the Osoyoos Baptist Church.

Members of the Osoyoos Coyotes will be on hand to serve the $5 breakfast and children can have their photos taken with Santa.

After breakfast, you’ll want to stop by the Legion Hall for the Kiwanis Christmas Craft Fair.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is by donation to the Osoyoos Food Bank.
