Loads of ghoulish fun in Osoyoos Halloween

The paving might be finished, but expect construction to be part of your Trick or Treat Main Street this afternoon.

Today is promising to offer a Frankenstein-sized bit of fun for the youngsters.

But you’ll want to watch out for your little tykes this afternoon if you’re all venturing downtown for the Osoyoos Credit union’s fifth annual Trick or Treat Main Street (TTMS).

TTMS is expected to involve 50 merchants and children of all ages. (Yes, that’s code for parents). But it will also involve ongoing construction on Main Street, with H&M Excavation tidying up after an extensive bit of sewer line replacement at the west end.

“We were hoping to be done by today,” an H&M rep said Tuesday. “But we had to order in some more bricks.”

Nevertheless, with a little hand-holding and careful-stepping, the Main Street candy crawl shouldn’t be too much of an adventure.

TTMS runs from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

After 6 p.m., there’ll be music, dancing, games, prizes and candy as the Town hosts a Monster’s Ball.

The Sonora Centre event, sponsored by the Town of Osoyoos and the Osoyoos Elks, also offers a pumpkin carving/decorating contest and a spooky ceremony.

If the kids get hungry (we’re not sure how that’s possible with all the candy they’ll have collected) Boston Pizza will be entertaining trick-or-treaters between 4:30 and 7.
