Osoyoos and Area A residents wanting to get a look at their riding’s Conservative candidate will have a couple of opportunities over the next few weeks.
Former City of Penticton councillor Helena Konanz — the Tory candidate for South Okanagan-West Kootenay — is scheduled to join MPs Michelle Rempel and Dan Albas at a Conservative fundraiser Sunday evening in Penticton.
On Feb. 7, Ms Konanz is scheduled for a meet-and-greet at the Summit Centre atop Anarchist Mountain.
The Penticton “Wine & Politics” event is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. at the Great Estates Wine Experience Centre in the Penticton Lakeside Resort.
Tickets cost $99 each and are available at www.cosnca.com/events. Proceeds will be split with the South Okanagan-West Kootenay riding association.
“Known for speaking her mind, the evening should prove to be both educational and entertaining as Ms. Rempel takes us through the issues facing Canada in 2019,” reads a notice posted on the Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola riding association’s website.
Ms. Rempel was a junior cabinet minister under former Conservative prime minister Stephen Harper. She currently serves as Opposition critic for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
The Feb. 7 Summit Centre meet-and-greet is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. and characterized as “short talk, Q&A and mingle.
“Charcuterie, vegetables and wine will be served, in addition to coffee and tea.”
The South Okanagan – West Kootenay riding is represented by NDP MP Richard Cannings. The next federal election is scheduled for October 21.
