Apparently, Osoyoos is a cozy place to stay — but not that cozy.

Osoyoos made the Top 50 of a list of cozy destinations in Canada, but just barely. Our resort community finished behind such popular Canadian travel destinations as Waterloo, Ont., Yorkton, Sask. and Airdrie, Alta.

But the community did make’s list.

“There is a moment when a trip becomes a vacation—and that’s when you get to melt into the cozy bed of your suite,” explains writer Jennifer Cuellar in Expedia’s 55 Coziest Cities in Canada feature published December 6.

“A truly relaxing holiday is time spent in a remarkable city all afternoon and coming back to a welcoming hotel when you’re ready to unwind. Here at, we believe in vacations that can leave you happy from dawn to twilight, and have the perfect recommendations for you.”

07_01_harminder_01Expedia’s team “analyzed thousands of verified hotel user reviews” from its 2015 data — everything from pillows to fireplaces and anything in between — and found the top Canadian cities with the highest comfort ratings.

Each of the 55 selected communities scored at least a four out of five on the comfort scale.

Top of the list was Emerald Park, Sask., a small motel bedroom community of Regina. It was followed by Waterloo and Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Yorkton, Sask. and Enfield, N.S.

Osoyoos ranked No. 50 — slightly behind some other preferred travel destinations in British Columbia, including Sidney (11), Chilliwack (17) and Abbotsford (20). A number of resort communities are also on the list — Sun Peaks (22), Radium Hot Springs (30), Fernie (49) and Whistler (53).

Osoyoos residents and visitors who might be wondering about the accuracy of the comfort polling can take some solace in its lack of scientific grounding.

How can you accurately measure Canada’s Warmest Welcome, right?
