The best in local fruits and produce, crafts and even wine, ciders and other spirits are back on Main Street this weekend.
Market On Main opens for the season promptly at 8 a.m. Saturday, with upwards of 40 approved vendors setting up shop at Town Hall Square.
“There really is a little bit of everything,” said Wanda Haworth, who, with husband Jim, handles marketing for the Market On Main Society.
“And it’s so much fun just to visit with the vendors and check out all the amazing stuff they have for sale.”
There’s also live entertainment, usually plenty of sunshine and lots of chatter.
The market’s commitment, says Ms Haworth, is to provide produce and fruit that is grown locally and crafts and other items that are made locally so that visitors can buy locally.
The Market will continue its Saturday sessions (scheduled for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) weekly through the end of September.
Beginning in July, the Market also opens every Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
“The Wednesday markets can get smoking busy,” said Ms. Haworth. “People will be out for dinner and they’ll hear the music and they just want to know what’s going on.”
The Wednesday evening markets will continue through the end of August.
The Osoyoos Market on Main has been a mainstay in the community for 10 years. This season’s grand opening is scheduled for May 21, with Mayor Sue McKortoff expected to stop by to help the Society celebrate.
