Rise and shine, Osoyoos — It’s Friday, August 26. Here’s what you need to know as your day gets started.
A stunning weekend begins today under sunny skies and hot, hot weather. We’ll see at least 32 this afternoon, 31 Saturday and 28 on Sunday. A little humid this morning, which will make for some heavy air. Sunset this evening at 7:51.
Another Friday, another reminder to watch your campfire. We had two close wildfire calls in the Okanagan this week — one just outside Okanagan Falls and a second larger fire on Westside Road near Kelowna. The fire danger rating is high in the South Okanagan.
A must-do this evening: The Royal Canadian Navy’s 35-piece ceremonial band is in town for Music in the Park. They’ll perform for an hour and then local favourite Rusty Copeland — one of the Three Amigos — will close the session with an hour of his tunes. It all starts at 6:30 p.m. at Gyro Park.
Want to do a little jammin’, Man? Tasman Jude is back in Osoyoos tonight for the first of two shows at the Spirit Beach Cantina. The popular Alberta-based band performs again tomorrow evening. Tickets are $10.
The Coyotes continue with their training camp this morning. Team Martine practices at 10 a.m., followed by Team Poole at 11:15. This afternoon at 4 p.m., the two teams will scrimmage. This evening, parents and players will gather for a meet and greet buffet.
