So, you want to be a municipal candidate

The Town of Osoyoos wants to give a leg up to residents looking to stretch their political ambitions.

The Town has scheduled an information session for anyone interested about becoming a member of Council and how to put a best foot forward in the upcoming October municipal election.

The session will be held on Thursday, September 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the Sonora Community Centre.

Anyone interested in increasing his or her understanding of Council’s role, purpose and activity is welcome to attend.

BC municipal elections are scheduled for October 20.

Five Town of Osoyoos positions — including Mayor and four councillor positions — will be up for grabs in Osoyoos.

Counc. Mike Campol has indicated he will not seek re-election; Mayor Sue McKortoff and councillors C.J. Rhodes, Carol Youngberg and Jim King are expected to run for additional Council terms.

Local voters will also cast ballots for two local school trustee positions.
