Sonora evening a great way to start participating

The Sun Bowl Figure Skating Club is just one of a number of local organizations planning to attend Participate Osoyoos this evening.

Not sure what you want to do with all the free time you’re going to have now that the beaches are closing?

Make a beeline, then, for Participate Osoyoos — scheduled for Wednesday evening at the Sonora Centre.

Formally known as Mass Registration, the evening event is an opportunity for Osoyoos and area residents to learn about the activities, services and programs offered in the community.

As of Tuesday afternoon, eight local organizations had signed up to attend.

Representatives from the Osoyoos Fire Department, Emergency Services, Osoyoos Kiwanis, Dance Oasis, Sun Bowl Figure Skating Club, Desert Valley Hospice Society, Osoyoos Dragon Boat Society  and Osoyoos Lake Water Quality Society will be handing out information about their respective activities and probably doing a little recruiting as well.

As well, says Sarah Dynneson, the Town’s Program Supervisor, attendees can also sign up for programming held at the centre.

“We’ll have our early-bird registration for our programs here at the Sonora Centre,” she said. “People will come to the front counter to register.”

Participate Osoyoos is scheduled for 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Sonora Centre, located next to Osoyoos Elementary School on 68 Ave.
