Oliver and Osoyoos wines will be in Vancouver Thursday doing a little pre-Christmas charity work for cancer research.
The Oliver and Osoyoos Wine Association is a gold sponsor of InspireHealth’s inaugural gala A Night to Inspire. The night is a fundraiser for the not-for-profit society, which provides supportive cancer care in British Columbia.
“They’ve put together a new cookbook featuring Canadian chefs and they’re doing a big launch,” said Jennifer Busmann, OOWA’s executive director. “It seemed like a good fit for the Winery Association to sponsor the event.
“We’re headed down there with seven wineries and, of course, wine from all of our members and we’re doing the reception and the dinner.”
Attending the event are representatives from vinAmité, Platinum Bench, Bartier Brothers, River Stone, Fairview Cellars, Church & State and Gehringer Brothers.
The OOWA wines will be paired with food offerings from four of the chefs featured in InspireHealth’s new cookbook Inspired Cooking. The book features 21 of Canada’s finest chefs.
“Four of the featured chefs will be taking us on an amazing culinary experience, as we sip on some of the best of BC’s wines from the Oliver Osoyoos Wine Association,” explains the Inspirehealth website.
“There will be live entertainment as well as moving testimonies of patients who have contributed their stories to our book, with the hopes that it will inspire change for others.”
The $200-a-plate dinner, with 250 seats available, is sold out.
“This is quite high-end,” explained Ms. Busmann. “Their goal is to raise about $100,000.
