The Osoyoos Wellness Hub — an association of health and wellness practitioners — is partnering with the Desert Sun Counselling & Resource Centre to bring Global Wellness Day to Osoyoos.
The Saturday, June 8 event promises free wellness sessions, including a morning warm-up and stretch led by Physiotherapist, Trish Stevens, a Laughter Session with Caron Keens, a presentation on Improving Chronic Disease through Diet & Lifestyle with Naturopath Dr. Tamara Browne and wrapping the day up there will be a beginner’s Yoga class with Helen Stutchbury from The Yoga You Need. Childminding is available!
Desert Sun will have staff on site to share information on the resources and programs it offers.
Outside of the building, other providers will have information tables. They include:
- Interior Savings;
- Move Therapies;
- The Yoga You Need;
- Springs and Spirals;
- Issues in Your Tissues;
- Physiotherapist Trish Stevens
- Certified Laughter Leader Caron Keens;
- Oliver Physiotherapy
- Interior Health; and,
- The Natural Family Health Clinic
A Creative Corner will offer “stress relieving art” demos from the Osoyoos District Arts Council and a Kids Wellness Zone will offer a water table, arts and crafts, and healthy snacks from Buy Low’s Larry the Strawberry.
Need to stretch your legs? Take a Wellness Walk — at 9:30, 10, 10:30 or 11 a.m. — with family, friends or coworkers and enjoy a 20 – 30-minute stroll with health and wellness practitioners from the event. Groups will head down to Watermark Beach Resort — where there will be a hydration station — and then everyone will make their way back up to the main event.
The free event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Desert Sun Counselling & Resource Centre, 8701 Main St. Participants will have the chance to enter their name for lots of great door prizes!
