Westridge reopens offering ‘signature guest’ experience’

Howard and Diana Rensler are resident managers at the completely renovated and renewed Westridge Inn.

What was quickly becoming an Osoyoos eyesore is now on its way to redemption as one of the community’s best kept secrets.

Except that word about the completely renovated Westridge Motor Inn is quickly getting out.

After several years of sitting vacant, the motel-brew pub complex located at the top of a small rise where Hwy. 3 meets Hwy. 97 is offering 28 rooms to guests and expects to have four remaining rooms open before the end of the month.

“We call them the Courtyard units — the ground floor units,” explains resident manager Howard Rensler. “They opened in December after everything was extensively renovated.

“Right down to the drywall and behind — absolutely everything is new.”

The Westridge now offers four types of rooms — furnished with brand new Serta mattresses, luxury linens and superior quality bathrooms and “one TV for every bed.”

A keycard-secured complimentary guest laundry is also available to guests.

Howard explains that a lot of thought went into creating a perfect guest experience. The Westridge has a 16-test standard it employs to ensure the motel offers what it calls a Signature Guest Comfort promise.

Other renovations continue on the property.

An outdoor pool is scheduled to open for the May Long Weekend and four multi-room units located on the second floor of an annex building should be open for the summer as well.

The Westridge is still working on the pub building.

“The pub is also part of our property,” says Howard. “Right now, we are in there working on the mechanical and it’ll be a minimum two to three months before it opens.

“It will be a licensed restaurant. I can’t tell you yet if it’s going to have a brew-pub feature or not, but it will be open and it will be a pub.”

Originally from Toronto and a stop in Fort McMurray, the resident managers — Howard and his wife Diana — have lived in the Okanagan since 2003 and moved to Osoyoos in April 2018 to take over the renovation and eventual operation of the complex.
