Apparently Osoyoos residents like the idea of a Wibit inflatable water park for the community.
Results from a survey conducted in October suggest almost 80 percent of Osoyoos residents are in favour of bringing a commercial Wibit operation to the community.
The location of choice is Legion Beach Park, located at the corner of 89 St. and 62 Ave. It was favoured by 37 percent of respondents; Cottonwood Beach, a second choice, was favoured by 30.5% of respondents.
“There were 11 respondents who suggested Gyro park as a more ideal location, and two respondents who suggested Lion’s Park as an alternative site in their comments,” reported Senior Planner Dilys Huang to Council this afternoon.
“Respondents have also mentioned about ensuring that a Wibit water park remains affordable to users, including families.”
The Town received 249 responses — 239 online and 10 hard-copy — during the survey period.
The next step is for the Town’s administration to draft a Request for Proposals, an invitation to interested businesses to provide information on how they would bring a Wibit park to the community and how it would be managed.
Placing a Wibit park in the community is not a done deal, however.
“In order to facilitate a Wibit water park, a subsequent amendment to the Town’s Foreshore and Lake Zoning Bylaw, which includes a public hearing process, will also be required,” Council was told.
