Planning on a little travel this morning?

If those plans include a visit to Alberta via Hwy. 1, you might want to ponder a new route.

The TransCanada is closed in both directions between Golden and the Alberta border as crews deal with a “high avalanche hazard.”

The highway is not expected to open again until at least noon today.

Elsewhere along the route, slippery sections and pooling water are reported between Spences Bridge, to the west of Kamloops, through to Revelstoke.

Travel is little better on Hwy. 3, with slushy and slippery sections, compact snow and other winter driving conditions reported between Hope and Fernie.

Conditions in and around Osoyoos are much better.
