Peter Michailides had a hat trick and Cole Rezka got his second goal in as many nights as the Osoyoos Coyotes romped to a 6-2 win in Princeton this evening.
The victory was the third straight for the Coyotes (4-10-1), who are starting to drag themselves out of a big hole they dug for themselves over the first 10 games of the season.
Bryston Garksa and Blake Astorino also scored for the Coyotes, who took a 2-0 lead through 40 minutes of play before exploding for four goals in the third to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
Lane French scored an unassisted marker with just over six minutes remaining to snap Daniel Paul’s shutout bid and Achille Casali added another Posse (8-7-0) score about two minutes later.
Paul stopped 22 of 24 shots to backstop the Yotes; at the other end of the ice, Posse netminder Dominic Bosa turned away 27 of 33 shots.
Osoyoos was one-for-five on the powerplay, Princeton zero-for-three.
In other KIJHL games involving Okanagan division teams, Summerland fell 5-0 in 100 Mile House, Sicamous dropped the visiting North Okanagan Knights 4-1 and Kelowna rallied late to earn a 5-5 tie on the road against Beaver Valley.
The Coyotes and Posse will hook up again Tuesday evening, this time in Osoyoos. The puck drops at 7:35 p.m.
