Generosity filling Giving Cupboard; some items still needed

A Community cupboard project embraced by three Osoyoos women is picking up a lot of support.

The trio of Brenda Dorosz, Jen Shiels and Gaye Horn has collected a small mountain or toiletry items — shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, bandaids, wet ones, combs and nail clippers — and many other small items as well.

The Cupboard is also looking for small boxes of dish and laundry soap, mittens, diapers, key chains, small toys, leashes, candles and shoe laces and any other small non-food item that someone might need on a moment’s notice.

The trio is also looking for an Osoyoos business or two willing to provide a dop off site for donations.

07_01_harminder_01“We  appreciate all donations,” reads a release from the Giving Cupboard group. “At this time, the Giving Cupboard is still under construction. All donations will be sorted and stored until needed.

The Cupboard will be located in front of the Osoyoos & District Art Gallery on Main Street.

If you can provide additional support to the Giving Cupboard, call 250-498-1261 or 250-535-0853.

  1. Thank you for showing interest. This is a model based on an American prototype that is centrally located, and it is primarily for anyone that might find a need for any of the items we have. There are many local people struggling financially and do not always have a bandaid on them or they might be travelling through and not have soap.. there will be no food(we have food banks) and no clothing(we have our thrift shop and the Diabetes Bib) and no used items.. nothing with alcohol and no sharp instruments. This is simply to say if you ate walking past the library and need something, whether you live here or not… please help yourself. All goods are new and given by donation. We make no money off this project and we simply want to say to our community , if you need it , take it please. There are Wish Lists posted around the community, in JoJO’s New Leaf, Buy Low, A&G , Seniors Center, with drop off points at Troy’s, Unity ,Osoyoos Times, Jane Long Accounting, Altered Faith and the Hearing Center
We welcome your support and urge you to go and see what it is.. again thank you so much for your interest.
