It’s that time of year again.
The kids are back in school, summer is slipping away and the Sonora Community Centre is ramping up services as recreational fun starts to move indoors.
The centre is back on winter hours, opening Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 5 p.m. It is closed on Sundays.
The centre is also offering a great deal this month to make the fun even more affordable.
Between Sept. 13 and Sept. 20, annual passes to the centre will be on sale at a 30-percent discount.
Annual passes allow access to select recreational programs at a reduced cost in addition to accessing the drop-in sports, drop-in fitness classes, weight room and squash courts.
With the discount, an annual adult pass is $180.95, a student or senior pass is $127.05 and a family pass is $360.85.
Early-bird registration for many recreation programs starts Sept. 13 at Participate Osoyoos, an evening event to be held at the Community Centre between 5:30 and 8:30.
Participate Osoyoos is an opportunity to learn about the activities, services and programs offered in Osoyoos. Representatives from many clubs and organizations are expected to attend and provide information.
If you can’t make the Participate Osoyoos event, you can still download the just-released 2017 Fall Leisure Guide. It delivers the lowdown on all the fun things to do at the centre — and at other leisure facilities in the community.
The guide is available for pick-up at the Sonora Centre or Town Hall. You can also download a copy of the guide right here.
Meanwhile, the Osoyoos branch of the Okanagan Regional Library, located within the Sonora Centre, remains open from 12 to 8 on Tuesday, 12 to 5 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 12 to 3 on Saturday.
The library is closed Sundays and Mondays.
