Coyotes back with a vengeance; take Game Two

Osoyoos Coyotes finally solved the doorstop Steam goaltender Matthew Kostiw had become in the post-season, but it took them 13 minutes and another uneasy Summerland lead to do it.

The Yotes scored a 6-2 win tonight, in large part thanks to Bobby LaRue’s second-period scoring deluge —  a natural hat-trick with goals potted at 7:18, 14:19 and 16:05.

Carter Shannon and Judd Repole added first-period markers to spot the Yotes to a 2-1 lead after the Steam’s Jarret Malchow scored on the powerplay just under seven minutes in.

Drew carter made it 6-1 for the Coyotes four minutes into the third before Summerland’s Wyatt Gale’s powerplay goal late in the period wrapped up the scoring.

Brett Soles stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced; the Coyotes thumped Kostiw with 40 shots.

The series now shifts to Summerland for Games Three and Four Tuesday and Wednesday.
