It was a different script that featured a bit of a cliffhanger ending but in the end the Osoyoos Coyotes were celebrating when the credits rolled.
Coyotes scored a 7-4 win over the Summerland Steam last night to take a 2-1 Okanagan Division final series lead into Game Four, to be held tonight in Summerland.
The win was anything but ordinary.
The Coyotes scampered out to a 6-2 lead through two periods and seemed to have matters well in hand. Then it got interesting.
Summerland scored two early third-period goals to draw closer at 6-4 and pulled netminder Matthew Huber in the dying minutes looking for a little more offense.
That effort would fall short as Carter Shannon would pot an empty-netter with 1:11 remaining to seal the victory.
Daniel Stone scored two first-period goals to lead the Yotes. Rainer Glimpel, Hunter Johnson, Judd Repole and Reed Wilson also scored for Osoyoos.
Josh Pilon scored two goals to lead Summerland.
The Coyotes out shot Summerland 25-17. Osoyoos was two-for-six on the powerplay; Summerland was two-for-five.
In other KIJHL playoff action last night, 100 Mile House edged Chase 3-2, Kimberley dropped Creston Valley 3-2 and Beaver Valley beat Grand Forks 4-1.
100 Mile House leads its series 3-1; Kimberley and Beaver Valley enjoy 3-0 series leads.
Game time for the Coyotes in Summerland this evening is 7:30 p.m.
