There’s nothing old school about the Town of Osoyoos’s Terry Fox Run.
The Town’s Recreation department is inviting Osoyoos residents and visitors to walk, run, bike or wheel a two-, five- or 10-km route and help support the Terry Fox Foundation and Terry’s dream of a world without cancer.
Registration for the event goes at 4:30 p.m.. The event itself gets started at 5 p.m.
The Terry Fox Run — and its sister Terry Fox School Run — is in its 36th year. The annual event honours Terry Fox, who, in 1980, with one leg amputated, embarked on a cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research.
Terry made it from St. John’s, Nfld., to Thunder Bay, Ont., before his spreading cancer eventually forced him to end his quest. Over 140 days, he ran 5,373 kilometres — averaging a full marathon almost every day.
