Rattlers ease into Okanagan Valley championships

The Osoyoos Rattlers are off to the Okanagan Valley Single A boys basketball championships.

The Rattlers scored an 89-61 win over challenger Kelowna Aberdeen Hall last night to secure the berth.

Arshdeep Gill scored 24 points to pace the Rattlers, who took a 38-28 lead into the lockeroom at halftime and exploded for 51 points in the final two frames.

The OSS squad will play Kamloops St. Anns Crusaders in a first-round match Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. The valley championships are hosted by Kelowna Christian School, the top-ranked A team in the province.

The Crusaders are ranked sixth provincially; the Rattlers are an honorable mention.

The Okanagan Valley tournament will send four of the eight teams competing to the provincial championships, slated for Langley March 9-12.
