An Okanagan Falls gas station destroyed by a fire in 2016 is on its way to being restored.

The station at the corner of Hwy. 97 and Cedar Street was approved for a form and character development permit Thursday by the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen.

Property owner Imraj Holdings Enterprises is proposing a carwash, office, storage and retail sales area in a two-storey building.

The owners say the new building will end up looking much the same as the previous Centex gas station.

The property has a star-crossed history. It has suffered several break-ins and was the scene of another suspicious fire when a delivery van was torched in its parking lot.
