Rise and shine, Osoyoos — It’s Friday, July 22

Rise and shine, Osoyoos — It’s Friday, July 22. Here’s what you need to know as your day gets started.

It’s Friday — and that means Music in the Park. Tonight’s featured act is the South Okanagan Big Band. Bring your lawn chair and blanket and join the throng at Gyro Park. The show begins at 6:30.

Opening today: the Spirit Art Show and Sale at Spirit Ridge Resort at Nk’Mip. The show, featuring local Osoyoos artists, opens at noon today and runs through 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the show will present between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

We have it from the horse’s mouth — Mt. Baldy Ski Resort will be open for downhill skiing December 1 — Mother Nature cooperating, of course.

07_21_16_weather-webDid you catch that weird, wild and intense thunderstorm last night? We took a ride to the lookout on Anarchist Mountain and captured a few minutes of video before the rain chased us back to the car.

It might not be good for ordinary British Columbians, but the province’s sizzling housing market is putting a whole bunch of extra cash into the provincial coffers. (CBC News)
