Work to remake Gyro Park Plaza — the former parking lot east of Park Place — is underway to meet an April 30 deadline set to avoid conflict with spring/summer traffic.
It will, however, mean the plaza area will be closed through the end of April.
The $110,000 project, to be undertaken by Penticton-based H&M Excavating, includes installing pavement, trees, benches, bike racks, light bollards and tree grates. It also includes the installation of a concrete ramp, irrigation and electrical work.
The plaza is adjacent to Gyro Park and provides access to Osoyoos Lake, volleyball courts and a beach area.
