Rainer Glimpel had a great day in the supermarket. Then he had a great evening on the ice.
Hours after assisting an Osoyoos resident with a 50-second shopping spree at Buy-Low Foods, Glimpel scored two goals as his Osoyoos Coyotes dumped the visiting Princeton Posse 6-0 last night.
The two markers gave Glimpel 30 goals on the season. He leads the KIJHL’s scoring race with 81 points.
Colton Rhodes, Braeden Tuck, Drew Carter and Bobby LaRue also scored for the Yotes.
It was the team’s defensive effort, however, that was and continues to be the star of the show.
Osoyoos allowed the Posse just 24 shots, including a miserly four in the third period, as it notched its fourth shutout in the last eight games. Over its 10-game winning streak, Osoyoos has outscored opponents 53-9.
The Coyotes are on the verge of setting the KIJHL record for least number of goals allowed in a 52-game season. Osoyoos has allowed just 90 goals through 50 games, 13 shy of the 103 goals the Fernie Ghostriders allowed in 2009/10.
The Coyotes host Kamloops Saturday evening. The Storm hold down second place in the Doug Birks division.
