Coyotes win another tight one, have Knights on ropes

Drew Carter scored twice as the Osoyoos Coyotes took a stranglehold on their divisional semi-final playoff round against the North Okanagan Knights last night with a 4-3 win in Armstrong.

The win gives the Coyotes a 3-0 series lead; Osoyoos can knock out the Knights with a win tonight in Armstrong.

Carter’s first goal opened the scoring at 9:19 of the first period, a lead the Yotes would enjoy until giving up a powerplay marker to Jack Berger with 2:19 remaining in the opening frame.

North Okanagan would take the lead 3:38 into the second period on a Brady Marzocco goal. Colton Rhodes evened the game at 14:09.

Carter’s second goal 4:39 into the final period gave the Coyotes the lead once more. Carter Robinson’s goal with 8:29 remaining would prove to be the game-winner.

North Okanagan’s Marzocco rounded out the scoring with 1:39 remaining.

Stephen Heslop backstopped the Yotes behind the Coyotes’ smothering defense. The Knights managed just 14 shots; Osoyoos put 47 on Knights netminder Daniel Paul.

Game time tonight in Armstrong is 7:30.
