The provincial government wants to hire more than 1,600 nurses before the end of March, but only 40 of those are for the South Okanagan.
Of those 40, only three are committed to the South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver.
“It is worth noting these are the numbers as of today and they may be subject to change,” the Interior Health Authority said today in a statement to the Osoyoos Daily News.
“We are reviewing the needs and vacancies regularly as we go through this process. Postings across Interior Health include a variety of nursing positions – in our facilities, either for general or specialty areas, or in the community.”
The South Okanagan General Hospital is considered a “Level 1 Community Hospital” by the Health Authority. The hospital offers outpatient ambulatory, acute care, and a 24/7 emergency department.
