When will the upcoming Rick and Morty Season 6 will air?

Fans are hoping for a Rick and Morty Season 6 release date, but the show’s erratic past release schedule leaves them puzzled about when it will hit Adult Swim TV again. Here is everything we know about its renewal so far.

Rumors on Rick and Morty Season 6 have been surfacing in the internet for a while now. The co-creators keep giving out updates to its progress. In 2020, co-creator Dan Harmon confirmed that the script of the anticipated season has already started and with luck, it could hit our screens in mid-2022

The show was confirmed to take a break roughly 1.5 – 2 years in between seasons, according to the creator. Season 6 of Rick and Morty is predicted by the end of 2022 or early 2023.

Cody Zigler, the show’s writer, tweeted on August 8th that Season 7 is in its “wrapping up writing.” Hopefully, that means the sixth season is well into production at this point. If so, we can likely expect an official release date announcement anytime in the coming months. The first announcement may also come alongside an official trailer keep us craving new videos and episodes.

Rick and Morty has been consistent in the number of episodes in each season. If this remains true, Season 6 will be ten episodes as well. The show was renewed for 70 more episodes after Season 3, leading to it being four seasons away at least.

“It’s weird in animation because obviously, Morty has to remain 14 forever. Summer is 17 forever, Rick is whatever he always is forever and Morty’s parents are never mentioned,” Cartoon Network’s Dan Harmon previously said to Osyoostoday.

So, the question becomes whether or not you want characters to grow and change, which I’m firmly against the reset button-hitting where there’s no awareness present. I look at it as how you cook meat versus smoking it. You let the flavor of itself while letting that change things.

Fans who are tired of being disappointed with season 5’s lack of attention to canon will hopefully be pleased again with this upcoming season.

Rick and Morty is a show with the same name on Adult Swim in the US, and airs on E4, All 4 in the UK, and stacktv in Canada.
