A former MMA militant from Argentina has been charged with kidnapping and attacking his home in Canada.
A group of individuals entered the home of Eduardo ‘Icho’ Lorenas and took him and his wife hostage.
A court in Laval (Quebec, Canada) has charged former Argentine mixed martial artist Eduardo ‘Ico’ Lorenas with second-degree murder following the discovery of a body in his home, local press reports.
On the morning of May 25, Lorenas and his wife, Gladys Rosanna Lopez, informed police that they had been attacked and robbed at their rented home. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the “unidentified” body of a 17-year-old boy.
Other media outlets reported that a private group had forcibly entered the house the previous night and held the couple hostage.
The former heavyweight wrestler grabs a knife from one of the intruders and starts stabbing him. Later, Larnas and his wife fled the scene.
Outcome of the investigation
Larenas, 41, and his partner were detained and refused release.
Investigators believe ‘Icho’ did not act in self-defense, for which he has been charged with murder, while his wife has been charged as an accomplice and is awaiting trial.
The attackers may have been involved in organized crime.
Eduardo Lorenas, from Argentina, has lived and trained in Canada for most of his professional wrestling career.
He competed mainly in Canadian advertising agencies and in 2006 he participated in the UFC event.
