Canada rises again in latest FIFA Men’s World List
Canada, who beat Mexico 2-1 at home in Edmonton on Tuesday, are now ranked 40th in the FIFA World Rankings.
Canada’s one of the best stories in international football this year in the 2022 CONCACAF FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Qatar.
Canada has six more games: two games against the United States (in January) and Jamaica (in March).
Meanwhile, the national team plans to travel to Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama.
The top three teams in the final advance to Qatar (fourth in the inter-team playoffs).
Starting at 72nd in the world rankings, Canada has risen from seventh to third in the CONCACAF, beating Jamaica, Costa Rica, Honduras and El Salvador.
Canada once easily overtook its rivals in North and Central America by three points and suddenly became a regional power center.
Canada is actually ahead of the five teams that reached the 2018 World Cup in Russia: Egypt (45th), Saudi Arabia (48th), Costa Rica (49th), Iceland (62nd) and Panama (63rd). .
They have clashed head-to-head with Costa Rica and Panama so far this calendar year and have won both matches 1-0 and 4-1 in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers.
