Concacaf has issued the following statement regarding AS Cavaly’s participation in the Scotiabank Concacaf 2022 Champions League:
AS Cavaly (HAI) informed Concacaf that the club was unable to obtain the necessary visas to travel to the United States for the upcoming SCCL matches against New England Revolution (USA), and that they had made the official decision to withdraw from the competition.
As a result of Cavalli’s withdrawal from the Premier League, the New England Revolution will advance to the quarter-finals, where it will face the winner of the match Pumas Onam (Mexico) against Deportivo Sapresa (Costa Rica).
The issue of AS Cavalli’s withdrawal from competition will be referred to the CONCACAF Disciplinary Committee.”
Fans who purchase SCCL “Pay-as-we-Play” ticket packages will automatically receive their tickets for the second leg of the Quarterfinals at no additional charge to their account. Buyers of single match tickets for any of the canceled Round of 16 matches will have the option of a full refund or credit. New England will now play their first competitive game of the year in the 2022 MLS regular season opener on Saturday, February 26th against Portland Timbers, the reigning Western Conference champions. The match is broadcast locally on FOX and FOX Deportes, as well as locally on radio on 98.5 The Sports Hub and 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA. The Revolution will then return to Foxboro for its opening game Saturday, March 5 against FC Dallas (1:30 p.m. ET).
