With so many OLED TVs to choose from in today’s market, it seems strange for Samsung not to market this television for what it is. Regardless, it looks like Samsung’s new QD-OLED TV will hit shelves for $2,200 (55-inch) / $3000 (65-inch) — a cut from its previous $2,400 / $3,500 price tag.

What is QD-OLED?

Samsung S95B QD-OLED TV: Specifications

If the design of this TV doesn’t bother you, the specs certainly will. The Samsung S95B QD-OLED will be powered by the brand’s Neo Quantum Dot 4K processor – the same thing found in Neo QLED 4K and 8K TVs. As a result, users can expect a high-end 4K upscaling that increases visual resolution when boosted from 1080p and 1440p – It is especially good for watching old TV shows and movies that were shown in lower resolution. There is no mention of dynamic tone mapping or the deep learning capabilities of the S95B yet – two features that are highly marketed by the LG division due to C2 . series.

Regardless of the processing power, the big draw for this TV will be the QD-OLED technology that lies at its core. New display technology will bridge the gap between Quantum dot and OLED technologies, resulting in a stunning visual experience that combines the best features of both technologies.

Gamers will be pleased to hear that the S95B will also be fully supportive of the next generation console, offering four HDMI 2.1 Slots feature full 48Gbps capabilities. On top of that, the S95B will also offer Motion Xcelerator Turbo plus technology – a response time-boosting technology that helps reduce annoying screen effects such as distortion and blur when viewing fast-moving images. Samsung has already listed the price of the S95B, and to our surprise, it’s actually a lot cheaper than we initially thought.

The 55-inch S95B will retail in the US for $2,200 (£1699) – $200 off the previously expected $2,400 price tag. The 65-inch S95B looks retail-ready for $3,000 (£2,299) – a $500 price drop from previous price predictions. While US consumers have the option to purchase the S95B as of April, there is no sign of it being available in the UK, EU and AU markets.

Samsung S95B vs LG C2: What Should You Buy?

One of the big questions we’ve been asked lately is, should I buy an S95B or an LG C2? And the answer is relatively straightforward, mainly because the two screens involved are somewhat different.

One panel features QD-OLED technology while the other uses OLED technology. Moreover, one seems to be geared more towards gaming while the other is more suited for recreational consumption.

In the end, the decision boils down to what you give priority most. If you are the type of person who plays more games than a general consumption of content, then you will probably want to choose the LG C2 – one of the best gaming TVs in 2022.

Instead, the Samsung S95B will certainly produce a much better visual experience than the LG C2, introducing an all-new display technology that seems to satisfy all the OLED flaws that it’s victim to.
