Kate McKinnon made fun of Defamation trial underway between Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard During Open Chill on this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live (14 May).
The two actors are embroiled in a lawsuit as a result of an op-ed written by Heard, which Depp alleges slandered him and ruined his career.
The comedian touched on other current events including Roe v Wade, the Russo-Ukrainian war, and the infant formula shortage, before settling on an update on a multi-million dollar experiment.
“I know it’s not the most relevant story at the moment,” McKinnon began. “But with all the trouble in the world, wouldn’t it be nice to have a news story that we can all collectively say ‘Glad it’s not me?'” “
Turning to “live coverage” of the trial, the rest of the cast mocked Depp’s earlier claim that Heard left droppings in his bed out of anger.
With Eddie Bryant as the prosecution attorney, Depp questioned Kyle Mooney in the situation about the alleged events.
While Heard’s attorney, played by Heidi Gardner, objected, as she claimed they had “go through this” and that “there is no real evidence that ever happened.”
After cutting a video of Depp’s property manager (Kenan Thompson) finding excrement, the judge, finally played by Cecily Strong, said, “I think I’ve seen enough. This trial has given me a lot to think about.”
On the one hand, I think the story of Mr. Depp. But on the other hand, your constant little smile lets me know. This isn’t the first woman you’ve pissed off so much that she pooped in your bed,” she teased.
