Cincinnati – Former Cincinnati University women’s soccer star Vanessa Gill made her Olympic debut on Tuesday when Canada beat Great Britain 1-1 in their third and final Group E match.
Both teams advanced to the quarterfinals. Canada’s game will be on NBC Sports against Brazil on Friday at 4 p.m. If he advances to those first-round playoffs, he will face either the United States or the Netherlands on Monday. Full protection of games is available NBCOlympics.com.
Canada won bronze in 2012 and 2016.
Jill, a defender at the 2017 U.S. Athletics Conference, became the first athlete to see an event at UCLA before giving his national team an Olympic invitation. He helped Piercots win the 2015 AAC title and was an outstanding Cosida Academic All-American alumnus.
Gill joins Tokyo with his Berkots University teammates Jordan Thompson (USA, volleyball) and Annette Eshkun Waugh (Nigeria, track and field).
