A new chicken joint and an auto service centre may soon be joining the Osoyoos community’s business offerings.

Council Monday will review two applications from Century 21 Development Group to add both a KFC franchise and a car wash and oil change service station to the Gateway Plaza property at the west end of Main Street.

The proposed automated car wash/oil change building would be located between the existing Your Dollar Store with More and the Plaza entrance on Hwy. 3/Main Street.

The location is currently vacant, and unpaved. Four staff parking stalls would be provided in accordance with Zoning Bylaw parking requirement.

Council is being asked to add car wash and oil change service station as a permitted use for the plaza.

Across the Plaza, a drive-thru KFC is being proposed — the first restaurant to be situated on the plaza property.

The sixteen seat restaurant would be about 1,550 sq. ft. in size. A drive-thru pick-up window would be situated on the rear side of the building, with an existing median relocated to accommodate the restaurant development.

The Town’s Planning Department is encouraging approval of both projects.

The Plaza is currently home to Buy-Low Foods, The Source, Your Dollar Store With More and Interior Savings Credit Union.

Adjacent to the property are 7-Eleven and A&W franchises.
