The sun was shining Friday morning — a perfect day for students, teachers and family to be out running in the streets for the annual fun run at Osoyoos Elementary.
Participants made their way around the 1K, 5K or 10K course as a wrap up to their eight-week Learn to Run Program.
This year ended a bit differently with an outdoor gathering celebrating a fundraising goal of $2,000 from the school’s Jump Rope for Heart event, which took place on May 4. Just over $2,300 was raised, which meant Grade 2 teacher Julie Dias would be getting 20 pies in the face by one student from every division.
The children gathered excitedly on the hillside to enjoy the show and the chosen students took great pleasure in being able to toss a pie at one of their teachers.
As a bonus for the crowd, Grade 1 teacher Mrs. Stene and Principal Mr. Foster also got a pie in the face to wrap things up before everyone headed back to class.
